We are proud to be a part of the Kemp’s ridley sea turtle project now going on in our waters. Cora, our sponsored turtle has found her way from the foraging grounds north to the Clearwater area, about a 200 kilometer paddle. A scientific home run would be if we tracked her from the foraging grounds where we released her to a nesting beach – the first time this would be accomplished. This is so important as it would allow us to better protect the species now endangered – by protecting the nesting beach and foraging area. It helps all of us (especially we recreational fisherman and boaters) as more could be done to prevent fertilizer and pesticide runoff from entering the gulf, especially if we can point to protection of this endangered species.
At Naples Best addresses we believe taking care of our environment is just one part of the Naples lifestyle. Preserving the beauty of Naples is the right thing to do and at the same time is the selfish thing to do – protecting the paradise we now live in.
