Joining the Naples, Florida residential real estate rebound is a string of commercial projects to spruce up the area. We have seen some very nice front face lifts on shops on 5th avenue, a significant new commercial building in the middle of 5th avenue to be anchored by JP Morgan and now a ground breaking new furniture store.
Let’s talk about the furniture store because we think it is positive in a number of dimensions. First, if you told people you were opening a new furniture store here a couple of years ago they would have thought you mad. Furniture goes with real estate – surely this new store is further confirmation of our residential real estate rebound.
Then you have the aspect of the “d” area – just EAST of US 41 – nice, downtown is starting to migrate off its roots again and cross that old barrier of US 41 which arrived in these parts so long ago. The Naples News reported the new furniture store “will be a furniture showroom like no other. The 60,000 square foot showroom – a prototype store for the new owners of Robb & Stucky – will be the first building to rise in the city’s so-called “D Downtown” zoning district since 2007. It will take the place of the former Trails End Motel, torn down years ago off U.S. 41 between Third and Fourth avenues south for redevelopment.”
Another interesting aspect, also included in the news article – Chinese investors are here as owners of the new store. In recent years Europe discovered the beauty of Naples and in fact it is estimated 21% of all residential buyers are international – but Canada and Europe. If we can add Asian investors to our humble little hamlet wouldn’t that be great.
Looks like Naples real estate continues to move forward.
Have a great weekend.
